Purge then Splurge
I love to shop but my funds often tell me no. I have the curse of expensive taste at times. When you see something super fabulous and you have to have it, then you quickly find out that it equals the amount of a mortgage or car note :) A quick fix would be a purge. There are many others like myself who are due for a closet clean out. Slightly used items are the perfect answer to earn some extra cash fast. I would then use that towards the purchase of my splurge.

W Magazine
W Magazine released its "it girl" issue and I am happy to see some color! With other Mag's causing trouble, W seems to take advantage of the situation in their favor. Nothing can happen overnight but it is a start in the right direction. With more repetition it can become the norm.
Two of my fav girls were featured. If you are an ANTM fan then you're as happy as me to see Yaya DaCosta gracing the cover. Using her Top Model status as a launching pad for her acting career, she recently landed a role in "The Kids Are All Right". I especially loved Yaya because of her natural hair. It's refreshing to see someone with celeb status that is relateable to us naturals. The rumor is that she went back to the "creamy crack" , but I will leave that as a rumor, because she could have easily used heated styling tools to achieve that sleek look.
My other fav feature is Zoe Kravitz. Unlike many other celeb children she's fighting that downward slope with her unique style. With those fab parents how could she not. She recently inked a deal to become the face of Vera Wang Princess. She also has a "indie" band called Elevator Fight. She has accomplished so much already, I can't wait to see what's next..............

My Thing
I am a heel type of lady but with a family and work it is too hard for me to rock my stems for distance commutes. These Steve Madden flats are awesome. I love the detail and the color can be paired with several wardrobe options. Steve Madden also carries these in beige.

Co-Wash Gone Wrong
I've been a natural off and on for about 10 years. This last BC, I decided to do it right and really take care of my hair. Thanks to sites like http://www.curlynikki.com/ I have found some good stuff. I started doing co-washes about 2 1/2 months ago and my 4b type hair responds really well. I co-wash and DC every 1-2 weeks depending on my energy level. This process usually happens on Sunday....and Sunday came and went :)
It has been a humid summer here in Chicago and my commutes home have been a hot sticky mess. Monday was one of those days where I felt extra blah. I thought I really needed to clarify, so I used shampoo. Soon after rinsing my hair it felt like a brillo pad. I know! Shame on me (tsk, tsk). I decided to do a serious deep condition and let it sit over night to combat that super dryness. I had to learn the hard way. On a positive note I was forced to do my first wash n go. I loved it...What do you think?

My fashion, My children
Hello All-
There is a thin line between my fashion and my children. I love my kids to no end and would do anything for them. That being said, my stlye has suffered severely. Before momdom I considered myself to be fashion forward and unique. I can still put good looks together, but I find that they are very basic. I will often start with inspirationn and then put the pieces in place. I ease my mommy guilt by stating that I want to show my children my own sense of style. If I lead by example they will see that being different is okay and embrace their own. What usually happens at that point is.....nothing :(
Some of my style favs are Solange and Katie Holmes. My question to you frends is how well do you tote the line? What are some of tips for a good balance? Who are some of your style favs?
